The details for the Moab weekend are coming together. If you are interested in attending, please read this description carefully and act quickly.

We are staying at the Sunflower Hill Bed and Breakfast in Moab, Utah. www.sunflowerhill.com.  The per night rates are $225 - $300 per night plus 14.6% tax, minus a 10% VIC2 discount.  When registering on-line, there is a box for "NOTES TO THE INNKEEPER."  To get your 10% discount, specify in this box that you are with the Village Idiots Cycling Club. IMPORTANT: At the time of booking, a deposit is due. Read the booking details carefully to determine refundability, and dates for payment of the remaining reservation fee.

If you wish to pursue a cheaper lodging alternative, there are numerous Airbnb units available in Moab for as little as $400-$500/night for a 3 or 4 bedroom unit. If you wish to pursue this option, book a free cancellation room at the Holiday Inn Express (~$253/night) at www.ihg.com, or somewhere similar. We will then attempt to put registrants in contact with each other to coordinate shared accommodations. Once you have an Airbnb unit booked, you can cancel your hotel. Please notify Doug Waltermire (dswalterm@msn.com) if you wish to pursue this option, and he will put you in contact with other interested parties.

Here is a rough weekend agenda:

  • Thursday September - Club member arrivals and check in. No rides planned.
  • Friday September 15 - Club member arrivals and check in. Mid-day moderate distance to Dead Horse Point.  Dinner for those arriving in time.
  • Saturday September 16 - Options for long epic ride (the Big Nasty) or shorter 35-40 mile cruise. Club dinner.
  • Sunday September 17  -  Options for long epic ride or shorter hilly ride (Arches National Park) Club dinner.
  • Monday September 18 -  Morning ride; refresh and checkout.

The Club's Social Committee will be making reservations for meals once we have our group set.  All meals will be paid individually at the end of the meal.

The Club's Cycling Committee will provide ride options for both experienced and more intermediate riders.  The Moab area provides many ride options and it is a beautiful time to be exploring by bike!

A $45 Club fee is due at registration.  A portion will be used for ride water and snacks, as well as fuel to transport our trailer with bikes - first come first served as there are 12 spots.  This fee is non-refundable if you cancel.

Please note the hotel cancellation policy(ies) and make sure you have selected the option that works for you.

To attend the VIC² Annual Weekend getaway:

  1. Register and pay your Club fee here:  Moab Weekend Adventure  Each Club member attending will need to register individually and pay the $45.   For non-riding companions, they are welcome to attend and enjoy sightseeing in the area during our rides, as well as join us for the other Club meals and activities.
  2. Book your room as indicated above. Again, note the refund policies
  3. Email dswalterm@msn.com and confirm your hotel room is booked.
  4. Look at the registration list to see if there are others you'd like to share a multi-bedroom unit Airbnb or similar, and let Doug Waltermire (dswalterm@msn.com) know. He will put you in touch with other interested registrants, but obtaining an Airbnb or similar will be up to you. Once booked, you will then need to cancel your hotel room.
  5. Bring a smile and expectation for a lot of fun!
Note that non-riding guests do not need to register. Other non-member guests must register, but are only allowed to ride one route with the club, or pay the club member fees.

I'm looking forward to a great trip…hopefully you can make it!
